Cape Fear Knitters

Cape Fear Knitters (CFK) is the Wilmington, NC Chapter of The Knitting Guild of America (TKGA.com). The group started in June, 2006 and continues to meet the 3rd Saturday of each month. Meetings are held at Bear Hall, UNC at Wilmington and are open to all interested in knitting. The groups objective is to encourage others to knit and for members to increase their knitting skill.

Members are compulsive knitters who not only knit for personal gain but for a variety of charitable organizations. Some charitable organizations include blankets for Linus Project www.project linus.com, lap robes for Gold Star Mothers www.goldstarmoms.com, premie hats for New Hanover Hospital, afghans and mittens for different outreach groups in Wilmington. CFK also teaches Girl Scout troups how to knit so they can earn their Fiber or Knitting badges.

Each meeting includes an educational program and a "show & tell" where members can show off their knitted items. Members discuss different yarns and patterns they enjoy and share their knitting experiences. During each meeting members can present any knitting problems they may have and receive assistance for another member.

Dues ar $15 a year which covers room rental, printing expenses, and gifts for guest speakers. Anyone interested in CFK may call Judy at 910-383-0374.
